Deshka's 1st Birthday

I made the cake and then Dakota helped decorate it with Peanut Butter M&M's.

I have always tried to make my kids' cakes for their birthday and make them festive. I tried this one with Olivia's birthday and when I tried getting the cake out of the pan it broke, so she just got it frosted and no one could tell the difference. I bought a cake decorating book and it gives over 50 cakes for birthdays. It's been fun to do them and I know the kids look forward to getting them. I let them look through the book and pick out the one they want. Some, like my pink firetruck for Dakota's 4th Birthday(it takes a lot of red food coloring to actually make red, so it turned out pink :) were a little more complicated than this Number 1. I haven't done the same one twice, yet.

Deshka had so much fun opening presents (with Dakota's help) and especially getting to eat her cake all by herself. It's the first time that I've let her just dig in to her food and make a huge mess.

Do you want some? I'll share.

Oh no, I think I've eaten it all gone!

Nope, still some in there. Good to the last crumb!
